In a video As seen on Twitter, Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K Annamalai has refused to apologize to journalists.
They demanded an apology for his statements made a few days ago at a party program in Cuddalore.
Annamalai had asked reporters why they surrounded him like monkeys jumping on trees to get his statements when he had already refused to answer questions.
According to D Sridhar, state media cell secretary, the journalists had already been informed that there would be no press conference, but despite that they had followed Annamalai for his remarks. Sridhar also said that this may have been done intentionally to create a bad name for Annamalai.
Today, while she refused to apologise, Annamalai said he did not feel the need to do so as he did not say anything wrong.
In response to a question, he said that TV channels like Sun TV and Kalaignar TV and newspapers like Murasoli owned by the Karunanidhi and Maran families are driven by an agenda and biased in favor of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). They cannot be called neutral media.
When a journalist kept insisting on an apology from him, Annamalai refused to back down and told the journalist (presumably from one of the aforementioned TV channels) that no one forced him to attend his press meets. He was free to write as he wanted or blackout, i.e. not cover his events.
