Bark N’ Roll in Los Angeles provides mobile treadmill services, dog exercise | Techy Kings

SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KABC) — Bark N’ Roll is a mobile treadmill service for dogs. Owner Marc Cleary serves the South Bay area and most of Los Angeles County.

Treadmills are inside his van where the dogs run. Runs last 30 minutes and the dogs go at their own pace. They can run from less than a mile to five miles.

Cleary says his love of dogs inspired the idea.

“We have a big coyote problem here. People are afraid to take their little dogs outside sometimes, and then they don’t get the exercise they need, and then they can put on weight they shouldn’t,” Cleary said.

Cleary says some owners use the service because they have busy lives or are physically unable to walk their dog.

Many people are not at home as often as they have returned to work after the pandemic restrictions have been lifted.

Veterinarian Dr. Ross Bernstein says treadmills are mostly used for animals.

“It can also be used for physical therapy or rehabilitation. So, you might not know there are even actual rooms where dogs can go if they’re recovering from an injury or want to lose weight. Some even have an underwater treadmill,” Bernstein said. . .

Dog treadmill services are safe, Bernstein says, but they’re no substitute for walking outside.
