Patna: Bar Council of India President Manan Kumar Mishra has requested Supreme Court Chief Justice Uday Amish lalit To consider increase in sanctioned number of Judges in High Courts including Patna High Court.
Mishra said that the population of Bihar is equal to that of Maharashtra but the approved number of judges of Patna High Court is less than that of Bombay High Court. The Patna High Court has a sanctioned strength of 53 judges, while the Bombay High Court has 94 judges.
Mishra made this request at a grand function organized for him. CJI Friday at the BCI Building in New Delhi. The CJI addressed the members and officials of various state bar councils of the country on the occasion and requested them to cooperate in early hearing of pending cases in their respective states. Citing the example of his own bench, CJI Lalit said that around 1297 cases were disposed of in the last four working days this week.
