How a ‘Greenwich Girl’ Became a Social Media Influencer | Techy Kings

GREENWICH — Ten years ago, before the term social media influencer was coined, Laura McKittrick had an idea: She wanted to start a website dedicated to her hometown of Greenwich.

The ‘Greenwich Girl’ website, dedicated to community events and the town’s dining and retail scene, is now in its 10th year and attracts hundreds of followers a day. All told, the Greenwich Girls founder said, the site has more than 150,000 followers on its social media platforms by 2022.

It all started as a fairly simple blog, and it now presents itself as a full digital magazine at thegreenwichgirl.com.

“I started Greenwich Girl because I noticed how people in Fairfield, Westchester County and New York City were drawn to our town,” McKittrick said, reflecting on the site’s first decade. “I wanted to create and provide a resource for all things Greenwich that was quickly accessible, showcasing the love I have for the area while supporting local businesses and our community.”
