To pay tribute to the great forerunner of the use of concrete in architecture: Auguste Perret, sound designer at JE imagined what the sounds associated with concrete would be: crystalline, tense, dry, deaf sounds… So that it reverberates in all directions. great concrete building, VL drew the mobile. It is because of the small drafts in this apartment where the architect lived that the mobile moves. By cleverly integrating a separate speaker into the mobile phone, the sound moves with the movements: “Sounds travel simultaneously in several directions, like multidirectional mechanical stresses in concrete,” say the two artists. Made of optical lenses similar to those used in projectors and electronic devices, the mobile phones form a transparent and moving constellation that undulates and deforms slowly and spectacularly. Light and antenna – magnifying glasses intersect, overlap and multiply to infinity, erasing the boundaries of the installation. In this way, the optical and acoustic effects are mirrors of each other. This new mobile phone plays with our perception and dialogue with the environment. In other ways, the constellation of magnifying glasses transforms the space and disperses it into a kaleidoscopic and poetic vision.
