Michigan Survives Illinois Upset by Milk Power: CFB Media Reacts | Techy Kings

[ad_1]

The Michigan Wolverines were on the ropes against Illinois but fought back to pull off the upset and the college football media couldn’t look away.

Call it a spot of foresight, call it a bad day at the office, but the Michigan Wolverines were in serious trouble Saturday morning against the Illinois Fighting Illini.

Despite being 17.5-point favorites in Ann Arbor, Jim Harbaugh’s team fell behind 17-10 entering the fourth quarter when the offense stalled after star Blake Corum was injured late in the first half. But credit where it’s due, the Michigan defense held firm against the Illini offense while JJ McCarthy, while far from perfect, continued to allow the Wolverines to put points on the board with field goals.

However, it was the last field goal that was the most dramatic.

After a questionable catch that put them in field goal range, Jake Moody came out and showed he had the Bill Rafferty onion in the big moment when he drilled the go-ahead for the game-winning field goal.

Michigan holds off Illinois to avoid upset: College football media reacts

With so much drama in the Big House, the college football media was buzzing about the near upset that Michigan gave up.

One thing’s for sure, Michigan can’t play like they did on Saturday next week when they travel to Columbus for a date with rival Ohio State. If they do, it won’t be a pretty sight for the Wolverines.

But for now, everything is still intact for Harbaugh and his milkmen. They are still undefeated on the season with a shot to make the College Football Playoff. But then again, this must be the game they were running away from, because that kind of performance isn’t going to cut it from now on.
