PATNA: 295 more people tested positive for dengue in Bihar on Sunday, taking the total to 7,902 so far this year, according to health department data.
Most of the fresh cases have been reported from Patna with 250 people diagnosed with dengue in the last 24 hours.
Of the 295 new cases reported in the state on Sunday, Patna alone accounted for 84.7 percent of the cases. Apart from Patna, dengue cases have been reported from 15 other districts including West Champaran (9). The grandchild (7), Darbhanga (5), Buxar (4), went (4), Samastipur (3), Vaishali (3), Arriya (2) and Madhubani (2).
BegusaraiOne dengue case each was reported in East Champaran, Lakhisarai, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda and Rohtas. No dengue cases were reported in 22 districts on Sunday.
So far, the viral disease has claimed seven lives in Bihar, including five in Patna and two in Nalanda this year.
The fresh cases in Patna took the district to 6,120 this year. Nalanda has reported 314 cases of dengue so far, followed by 281 in Monger, 106 in Nawada and 108 in Vaishali since January this year. Other districts have reported double-digit cases so far.
On Sunday, a total of 249 dengue patients were under treatment in various government health centers in the state, including 194 in Patna alone, followed by 16 in Nawada, 13 in Bhagalpur, 10 in Nalanda, nine in Darbhanga, four in Madhubani, two in Purnia. And one in Gaya
