In the first match of the 9th season of the Pro Kabaddi League, Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan played out a thrilling draw.
Aslam Inamdar produced a superb performance to give Puneri Paltan a seven-point lead in the first half, but Patna Pirates fought back in the second half to ensure that the game ended in a tie, with Raiders Sachin’s efforts.
Aslam and Mohit struck in the 5th minute to put Platoon in front at 5-3.
Patna defender Sunil pulled off two brilliant tackles, but Paltan continued to push forward. However, the Pirates went all out in the 11th minute to take a three-point lead at 12-9.
But, moments later, the Puneri platoon reduced three-time champions Patna to two men on the mat and regained the lead at 15-13.
Soon after, Puneri’s Alankar Patil avoided Rohit Galia for an all out. The Pune team rode the momentum and took a comfortable 23-16 lead at the end of the first half.
The Pirates showed a little more urgency in the second half. Sachin chipped in with a couple of raids when the Pirates got close to Poneri’s score.
In the 27th minute, Patna went all out and took the lead at 26-24. Soon after, Rohit Gallia scored a brilliant raid to help Pirates extend their lead.
However, the Pune team fought back through strikes from Akash Shinde and Aslam to level the scores at 30-30.
The two sides held on to win points together and were locked at 34-34 in the last minute of the match as the match ended in a draw.
