Security personnel of the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) caught a 25-year-old prisoner trying to smuggle two mobile batteries into the jail.

Accused Syed Ruman was arrested in a kidnapping and rape case by the Pulakeshinagar police two years ago and was lodged in the Central Jail as an inmate.

On Wednesday, Ruman was arraigned on the physical production charge. He was accompanied by employees of the city’s armed reserve. He was returned to prison around 6:00 p.m

During a security check at the main gate, security personnel found two mobile batteries hidden by Rumano. He, along with the seized items, was handed over to police officers for further investigation.

The Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case against him under sections of the Karnataka Prisons (Amendment) Act and are investigating the case. Police are now looking for the phones that needed the batteries.
