PATNA: As summer vacations have begun in many schools in the city, school administrators have planned various sports activities and summer camp events to keep students busy. Some schools have also planned additional or special classes for students in grades 10 to 12 to supplement the curriculum.
Principal of St Xavier’s High School, Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ said, “Today was the last working day for the students before the summer vacation. From May 21, the children can enjoy a camp organized on the school premises. This year, we have planned activities like swimming, painting and art and craft classes, western and classical dance (Bharatanatyam) and basketball.The summer camp will continue till May 28 from 6.30 am to 9.30 am.
Notre Dame Academy has started summer vacation from May 13. However, additional classes are being conducted to complete the syllabus for Class XII students.
Various sports programs like volleyball, basketball, table tennis and other indoor games have been organized after May 19, Loyola High School teachers said.
Glenda Galstone, principal of St. Dominic Savio High School, said the school has planned short field trips for students from May 21 to June 1 to the water park, the Sri Krishna Science Center and the museum. “In the school, students will enjoy various activities like Zumba, swimming, skating and pottery. This is for all classes except X and XI,” he said.
Principal of St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Sr. Josephine CJ said that there are many activities taking place in the morning hours (6 am to 8 am) and evening hours (4.30 pm to 6.30 pm).
Mary Alphonsa, principal of Don Bonsco Academy, said that the school will organize a special cricket camp for girls and other activities like dance and Madhubani painting for the students. “We are still planning the activities as the summer camp will start after May 20, which is the last working day for students before the holidays,” he said.
