1. Chat with yourself

Currently, WhatsApp users can send messages to themselves. By checking the “Notify Yourself” option, the instant messaging app will now enable the ability to chat with itself. The ability to chat with your phone number will also be available in WhatsApp’s contact list, making it easier for users to connect with themselves, according to the WABetaInfo report.

2. Profile pictures in group chats

Setting profile pictures for specific contacts in group chats is another WhatsApp feature that is under development. When you receive a message in a group, the profile pictures of the group members will be displayed. The default profile icon will still appear in the conversation if the group member does not have a profile photo or is unavailable due to privacy settings.

3. Forward media with captions

WhatsApp users will soon be able to forward documents, images, videos and GIFs with captions. Although this feature is available in the latest WhatsApp beta version of Android 2.22.23.15 from the Google Play Store, it is not yet available in the stable version.

4. Ability to blur images

Soon, WhatsApp will include the ability to blur images. Users will be able to blur or hide sensitive information in their photographs with this new feature. According to the article, WhatsApp has developed two blur tools that allow users to edit images. Additionally, they can choose the blur size to precisely apply the effect.

5. Download media automatically on desktop

WhatsApp’s desktop clients on Windows and macOS allow users to control the settings for automatic download of documents, photos and videos. Only desktop beta users have access to the feature.
