Our village continues to grow.

Village Media, the local news company that runs this site, has launched another community news outlet in Ontario: BurlingtonToday.com.

Officially unveiled Tuesday morning, Burlington today is Village Media’s 19th owned and operated local news site in the province, joining neighboring titles such as HaltonHillsToday, GuelphToday, Cambridge today and Thorold Today.

“We’re excited to be in Burlington, a place where people care deeply about their community and the people who live there,” said Jeff Elgie, CEO of Village Media. “We have a great team in place and we look forward to showing local people why they should turn to us for the latest news and other important information.”

The editor of Burlington today is Brenda Jefferies, a talented, award-winning journalist who has worked in local newsrooms for nearly two decades. Joining her on the team is Tania Theriault, who recently returned to Canada after spending several years reporting abroad, including on BBC Radio and Jersey Evening Post.

Born digital, Village Media’s free and accessible websites are designed to be super fast and easy to navigate, whether you’re using a phone, computer or tablet. More importantly, each site is a reliable source of reliable, fact-based journalism and other important information, including weather reports, obituaries and classified ads.

“When done with purpose and passion, local journalism has the power to connect communities like nothing else can,” said Michael Friscolanti, editor-in-chief of Village Media. “We introduce you to fascinating neighbors and celebrate local triumphs, but we also ask the hard questions and hold policymakers to account. When local news thrives, everyone benefits.”

Village Media is an industry leader in local digital media and strives to empower the communities it serves through an integrated approach to community-first journalism, sales and marketing. The company’s growing network of 70 owned and operated and partner sites in Canada and the United States operate on an innovative, custom-built content management system developed in-house.
